Tapchangers are now made by several manufacturers around the world. Some designs are new, but some are decades old. Materials, designs, and physical arrangements differ. It is not possible, nor is it necessary to include in a book of this kind every execution. For the purpose of this chapter we consider two main classes: selector switch type and diverter switch type. In a selector switch, taps are selected by a tap selector and the very action of selection causes current to be switched on. |
