Incorporating projects into statistics courses provides students experience forming research questions, selecting data, implementing appropriate statistical analyses, and communicating their findings and subsequent implications. In this chapter, we describe how to integrate projects into both undergraduate- and graduate-level statistics courses. We discuss benefits students gain from engaging in the research process by completing a course project, practical suggestions for incorporating projects, and some of the challenges instructors should consider. Experience applying course concepts to a data set of interest is critical to ensure understanding and appreciation of the complexities of the quantitative research process. |
