Popis:	Synthesis of 6-methoxy-, 5,6-dimethoxy-, 5,6-benzo-and 7,8-benzo-3-methylisocoumarins by an acid-catalysed path has been described. The path uses aromatic aldehydes as the starting materials, while isochromans are the key intermediates.
