Popis: Seismic and potential field data were acquired in the San Julian Basin in the south offshore of Argentina. The interpretation of these geophysical data enabled the definition of the structural framework of the basin and its tectonic evolution. Tectonic phases related to rifting, thermal subsidence and passive margin were identified. A possible Late Cretaceous wrenching event strongly affected previous structures and created several features typical of this kind of deformation. Several prospects were identified within the basin and one exploratory well was drilled, but resulted dry.
