Popis: The optimized polynomial approximation is applied to solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation. Simple prescriptions for practical usage are given for the case of a general superposition of Yukawa potentials. Detailed results are presented for the Malfliet-Tjon 3 S 1 potential as a representative demonstration of the power of the method. For comparable accuracy it is seen that the use of optimum variables reduces the dimension of the relevant matrix equations by a factor of approximately 3.
