Popis: | The ACRU2000 environmental modeling system (reported in ASAE paper 012030) was tested in the Mgeni River watershed, a medium-sized (4079 square km) watershed in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The ACRU2000 model was parameterized for 137 sub-watersheds to simulate daily streamflows. These simulated flows were compared with observed data at several management watersheds for a 15 year period (1979-1993). The model gave satisfactory results in simulating upstream management catchments with the variable high and lows flows that are endemic to southern African hydrological systems. The model had less success with areas encompassing large reservoir and transfer schemes combined with urban and peri-urbans areas. Further study is necessary to determine whether the differences between model and observed results were caused by model inadequacies or faulty/missing flow data. |
