Popis: | Summary The embryonic development of the gastropod Viviparus ater was examined by histochemical procedures as well as by ontogeny of the expression of TGF-β1—and TGF-β type II receptor-like molecules. Developmental stages show specific spatial distributions of molecules immuno-reactive to anti-TGF-β1 and -TGF-β-receptor antibodies. These molecules are present early during development. They were detected at stage (10% of embryonic development) and remained present during further development and in the most advanced stages. These findings support a role for TGF-β1-related factors in pattern formation and the growth of various organs in V. ater. |
