Popis: The resistance of sesame seeds to airflow ranging from 0·234 to 0·369 m3 s-1 m-2 was measured at bed depths of 0·15, 0·3 and 0·45 m respectively with bulk density ranging from 562·5 to 713·2 kg/m3, moisture content levels of 6·5, 10·4 and 15·4% (wet basis) and fine material levels of 0·5 and 10%. The resistance to airflow increased with increased airflow rate, bulk density, bed depth, percentage of fine material and decreased moisture content. Airflow resistance was accurately described by Shedd's equation and an empirical equation comprised of bulk density, moisture content, level of fine material and airflow rate.
