Popis:	It was established that substituents primarily are incorporated in the benzene ring in the bromination and nitration of 2(3)-phenyl-5(6)-hydroxybenzofurans. The acetoxy derivatives of the same benzofurans are brominated and nitrated only in the free position of the furan ring.
