Popis:	Several investigators have proposed that it might be possible to employ ultrasonic Doppler methods to assess blood flow velocities in the aorta (1–3). Such a measurement could yield valuable information about the dynamics of ventricular ejection and potentially about quantitative blood flow. Using first prototypes of our own design and later the UltraCOM, manufactured by Lawrence Medical Systems, we have sought to develop, validate, and utilize this new technique (4).
