Popis: | We frequently assume that the conflicting preferences of mental health professionals are a function of differing values inculcated by one's disciplinary training. This paper concludes, however, that tenure with the organization or structures such as unit groupings or hierarchical rank may be a greater influence on preference orderings than professional identity. The study was conducted at a large state supported psychiatric hospital, and the variables analyzed are professional identity (psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work, chaplaincy, activity therapy, and vocational rehabilitation), unit grouping, hierarchical level, and length of tenure. |
