Popis: When producing silicon carbide refractories by slip casting the optimum pH range is 8.5–11 whether the slip contains or does not contain added clay or silicon although the kinetic stability of the slip is minimal in this case. Added clay or silicon increase the viscosity slightly and reduce the zeta potential, more particularly with an increase in the clay content from 3 to 10% and in the silicon content from 20 to 40%.
