Popis:	This chapter summarizes the current strategy and policy for radioactive waste management in Japan which has been hindered by a lack of public acceptance and of a final high level waste end-point (geological repository). Ongoing decommissioning of several nuclear facilities, including the Tokai-1 NPP, the Advanced Thermal Reactor ‘Fugen’ and the Plutonium Fuel Fabrication Facility (PFFF), are described.
