Popis:	N-9 alkylated materials are the sole products obtained from extended reaction of 2-aminopurines (potential guanine precursors) with Michael acceptors. This was used as the basis for a highly regioselective synthesis of famciclovir, the oral form of the anti-herpesvirus agent penciclovir.
