Popis: Juvenile lobsters were fed pelleted natural or synthetic diets with varying protein content while being held in a closed system containing either Instant Ocean or natural sea water. An optimum dietary protein level could not be established. However 11% protein was shown to be inadequate. Instant Ocean was found to be as good as natural sea water for holding lobsters during dietary studies. Feed efficiency ratios were calculated and shown to be comparable to those determined for rat and chick. Parentage was shown to be a significant factor in terms of rates of growth of animals on various diets. Molting was shown to be cyclic and synchronized in early growth stages.
