Popis: The present work discusses the academic formation of Arts teachers, having as a central point of investigation the actions developed by the Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia (UFSB), in the northeast of Brazil. It starts with an analysis of data collected from databases such as Observatorio do Plano daNacional da Educacao, Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anisio Teixeira - INEP and other bases, from which we can observe the disparities between the education and the area of expertise of art teachers in Brazil and Bahia. It reflects on the challenges surrounding the expansion of access to specific qualification in this field of knowledge, with a focus on actions, courses and research developed within the scope of the Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia (UFSB). Among utopias and dystopias inherent in the political debate on the fields of Arts and the educational context, an overview of teacher training in Arts in the context of the South and Extreme South of Bahia is drawn up. This work intends to be a contribution to the field of Arts Pedagogies, launching perspectives of mobilization in a peripheral context with a huge lack of actions in this area.
