A Case of Oncocytoma of the Nasopharynx with Melanin Granules

Popis:	A 70-year-old man complained of a strange feeling in the throat that he had experienced for twelve months. On fiberscopic examination, some black spots were found in the bilateral torus tubarius, posterior wall and lateral wall of the nasopharynx. A mucosal biopsy specimen taken from the left torus tubarius of the nasopharynx revealed the presence of numerous oncocytes. The majority of the tumor cells contained melanin granules. Under electron microscopic examination, the tumor cells showed many mitochondria and melanosomes in the cytoplasma. The spots increased in number after 7 months and laser vaporization of the nasopharynx was performed. There has been no evidence of recurrence for 4 months.
