Radiative lifetimes of the A 2Σ+12 and X22Π32 states of lead monohalides

Popis: Emission of the A 2 Σ + 1 2 →X 1 2 Π 1 2 and X 2 2 Π 3 2 →X 1 2 Π 1 2 transitions of PbX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) radicals has been observed in the visible and near-infrared region when lead dihalide vapours diluted in Ar carrier gas were photolysed with radiation of KrF or XeF excimer lasers in a flow system. Time-resolved measurements of the emissions have allowed determination of the radiative lifetimes of the A 2 Σ + 1 2 and X 2 2 Π 3 2 , v =0 states, τ A =5.0±0.8, 1.0±0.2, 0.85±0.2, and 0.13±0.03 μs, τ x 2 =0.36±0.05, 1.3±0.2, 2.1±0.3, and 4.0±0.6 ms, for PbF, PbCl, PbBr and PbI, respectively.
