The report describes the measures taken in the USSR for the production of computing equipment between World Wars, and analyzes their effectiveness. It is shown that the main incentive for the development of their production were the needs of accounting. It is shown also that neither the nomenclature, nor the quantity or quality of mechanical computing devices met the requirements of time, which, probably, together with the appearance of new, extremely complex tasks after the end of the war, stipulated the development of a fundamentally new, electronic computing technology. |
