This project will measure the effect of establishing an international investment court to settle investor state dispute on foreign investors' behavior, and we use the Arab Investment Court as a case study. To test the effect of the court, we will measure the intra-Arab flow of foreign direct investment after the establishment of the court. A standard difference-in-differences research model will be used having both as Arab investors as the treatment group and non-Arab investors as the control group. Our data sources will mainly be from multinational insurance agency in the Middle East and North Africa, the Arab Investment & Export Credit Guarantees Corporation (Dhuman, the World Bank, and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. We will test the hypothesis by looking at the data of FDI five years before the establishment of the court and five years post the establishment of the court which is in the range of 1998-2008 whereas the establishment year is 2003. |
