Popis: Methyl triflate is an efficient agent for the quaternization of nitropyridines containing an additional electron-withdrawing substituent. When triethyloxonium hexachloroantimonate is used as the quaternizing agent, β-elimination occurs with formation of protic pyridinium salt and ethylene.
