Popis: | Empirical models of the ionospheric characteristics foF2 and M(3000)F2, using empirical orthogonal functions (EOF) on the one hand, and by Fourier-Legendre analysis on the other, are compared. No significant differences are found at low and medium solar activity between these, also when comparing with northern hemisphere vertical sounding data. At high solar activity the EOF models tend to give somewhat greater foF2 values. Regional EOF models admitting different relations with solar activity during the increasing and decreasing phase of the solar cycle, are in good agreement with observed data, in a wide range also with the CCIR models. |
