Popis: Experimental studies have been carried out on a low energy (2kJ) dense plasma focus (DPF) device1, 2 at the University of Saskatchewan to study the correlations among various parameters including the electron temperature, charged particle emission and X -ray radiation. The DPF is filled with Argon gas at various pressures. The electron temperature in the pinching plasma is measured using a diode array (4 discrete diodes) with cobalt filters of chosen thickness in front of them so the transmission of the copper line emission is minimized. The electron temperatures up to 7 ke V have been measured. A Faraday cup with a fast response time is placed in front of the anode to measure the ion beam intensity. The electrons through the hollow anode are collected by a metal plate connected to the ground and its corresponding current is measured using a Pearson current probe. The hard x-ray is measured using a photomultiplier tube with a plastic scintillator placed in front of it.
