Popis: | Individuals with comorbid alcohol and substance use disorders (AUD-SUD) require unique skills and sensitivities of providers working in medical rehabilitation, and successfully treating both AUD-SUD and medical rehabilitation needs can pose significant challenges. Adding many rehabilitation providers also have not received specialized training in AUD-SUD treatment, and many SUD treatment providers also have not had specialized training in medical rehabilitation. However, rehabilitation practitioners treat the “whole person” and already possess many of the skills and abilities needed to provide evidence-based forms of screening, assessment, and treatment in medical rehabilitation for many populations and problems. This chapter reviews special considerations, resources, and practical tips to help you assess, treat, and support patients with AUD-SUD in medical rehabilitation. |
