This paper highlighted the study on preserving the e-records event history metadata. This study is currently conducted in identified the actual model that should be used in preserving the e-records metadata in Malaysia Government Agencies. In preliminary stages, the interview session has been conducted with staffs from Malaysia Government Agencies and National Archives of Malaysia (NAM) in order to identify the actual problem occur in preserving the e-records metadata. This paper also reviewed four (4) theoretical metadata models and expert validation to firmly come out with a concrete model that can give the solution to the existing problem. The models are Open Archival Information System (OAIS), Preservation Metadata: Implementation Strategies (PREMIS), ISO/TS 23081 and Encoded Archival Description (EAD). Furthermore, in this early stage of data collection and validation, there are four (4) NAM branches have been involved for the in-depth discussion on the proposed model. Based on the discussion, they determinedly that the proposed model are important for safeguarding the preservation of e-records event history metadata in terms of evidence and security purposes |
