We have already given an overview of the forces of globalisation that are likely to affect sport, retraced the relatively recent commercial development of the industry, examined its structure, revealed the origin of sport and considered the variables affecting the all important consumers of sport. In this chapter we introduce the first nexus dimension, the economy, or more specifically, the global sport services economy, which, when considered as a driving force of globalisation and change, has the capacity to affect sport business radically. |
