Polarographic reduction of dihydrodioxotribenzotrypticene in dimethylformamide

Popis: 1. 12,15-Dihydro-12,15-dioxo-(2,3; 6,7; 13,14)tribenzotrypticene (I) is reversibly reduced on a dropping mercury electrode in dimethylformamide medium against a background of 0.1 N LiCl within the concentration range 1.0–8.95 millimoles/liter. 2. The reduction of the quinone (I), characterized by two polarographic waves, passes through a step of semiquinone formation. The half-wave potentials are equal to −82 and −504 mV, respectively. The constants of the diffusion current of the first, second, and summary waves are equal to 1.60, 0.98, and 2.81, respectively.
