Popis: | The dramatic rise in global energy consumption and the resulting environmental issues are the main concerns of today's world. Taking into account that buildings are one of the largest energy consumers, improving energy conservation and sustainable developments play a critical role in the construction section. In this regard, the development of sustainable construction has introduced a new concept entitled “intelligent buildings (IBs).” Various definitions have been proposed for IBs in the literature, however, most existing definitions are either too obscure to be a reliable guide for detailed designs or do not consider all the involved parameters. Since there is no general definition for intelligent buildings and due to the lack of practical frameworks considering all factors involved in the design of such systems, a strong need for a comprehensive framework as a decision-making tool that includes all the involved criteria is strongly felt. Herein, a multicriteria framework composed of 68 subfactors is proposed as a comprehensive tool for selection of intelligent buildings. In this regard, eight quality environment modules were considered as the main factors including environmental and energy indicators, space flexibility, cost-effectiveness, user comfort, working efficiency, safety, culture, and technological factors. The findings of this research can promote the use of intelligent buildings from two aspects. Firstly, this multicriteria model can be used to determine all factors involved in the design of IBs. Secondly, the proposed conceptual model can be applied to prioritize the importance of factors from the perspective of industry specialists and experts. Although the results provide a better insight toward choosing the priority levels of each factor in IBs, the outcomes are highly dependent on the decision makers' points of view. |
