A two-component acoustic system was developed and deployed during a major Fall 1991 at-sea exercise. The first component is a near-real-time airborne environmental acoustic data acquisition system. This component acquires and processes data, and performs semi-automated quality control and message generation. These messages are transmitted to the second component, an acoustic modeling and validation system. This system is capable of acquiring disparate types of incoming data and messages, performing acoustic performance modeling, and optimizing exercise scenarios based on in situ measurements from several sources, including the airborne system. |
