Popis: This is the last presidential message of the 1900s, an extraordinary 100 years for chemistry and other sciences. Our lives have been transformed by the manifold advances of science and technology, with developments in chemistry and the chemical enterprise among the most influential. These changes have appeared throughout the decades and will undoubtedly continue into the coming years. The intellectual foundations, the personnel, the creativity, the techniques, and the resources are there to forge new accomplishments. The years 2000 and beyond will surprise us with discoveries in directions as yet unsuspected and capabilities well beyond our expectations.
