Popis: The hepatitis C virus belongs to the group of the flaviviruses. The genome consists of a single strand of (+)-RNA with a length of approximately 9.5 kB. This RNA is packed into a core and an envelope that consist of lipids and core-and envelope-proteins of the virus. The RNA encodes for a large polypeptide. After translation, the polypeptide is spliced into at least 3 structural and 6 non-structural proteins. The structural proteins are the core and two envelope-proteins. Non-structural proteins are: proteases, a helicase and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase.
