Popis: Is it possible for someone to be a sceptic on their own deathbed? Such behaviour would be a paradox for philosophers and a scandal for common sense. Attacks came first from philosophers, mainly Beattie, which proved to be popular. But there was no change in Hume's mood. He was still joking with Adam Smith a few days before his death and died in a lucid and serene state of mind. After his death, it was proved by the friends of religion that it was impossible to be both a sceptic and an honest man.
