Popis: Blanks adhering to the punch after blanking during the backward stroke of the punch may cause problems as they fall uncontrolled into the tool and thus damage the cutting edges during the next stroke. There is a number of recommendations as how to break adhesion or how to avoid it, but there is little quantitative knowledge about the mechanism of adhesion and the parameters affecting ist. As a first step towards a better understanding of the mechanism of adhesion the adhesive forces between punch and blank were determined and the effects of some parameters such as sheet thickness, die clearance and lubricant were determined by an experimental investigation. It was found that the adhesive force consists of two components. One component acts between the punch face and the blank surface; it is primarily affected by the pressure exerted from the punch to the blank and by the lubricant used. The second component acts between the cutting edge of the punch and the burr of the blank; it is mainly affected by the height of the burr which in turn depends on the die clearance and on the state of wear of the cutting edge.
