Popis: | Vapour pressure measurements in the system Ca−Hg (0–50 at% Ca) at temperatures between 250 and 500° C confirmed the existence of the phases CaHg5, CaHg3, CaHg2, and CaHg. Further phases do not exist in the examined range. CaHg3 crystallizes with stoichiometric composition without any homogeneity range, but CaHg5 and CaHg2 have small (0.2 and 0.8 at% resp.) homogeneity ranges. The examinations confirm the peritectic decomposition of CaHg5 (263 °C) and the stability of CaHg3, CaHg2 and CaHg up to temperatures above 500 °C. The “heats of reaction” of the Hg-rich Ca−Hg-compounds formed from CaHg and Hg, as calculated from vapour pressure measurements are relatively small. Further experiments proved that Hg is not soluble in Ca at least at a temperature of 450 °C. |
