Popis: It appears that if the carrier gas does not contain electronegative contaminants, the electron concentration in the electron capture detector is virtually independent of the temperature and the gas flow-rate. With oxygen in the carrier gas, the electron concentration decreases. During elution of other electronegative components, oxygen causes charge transfer to occur. Depending on the temperature, this effect seems to increase the sensitivity of the detector to such components.
