A low cost, user friendly low frequency pulsed EMF generator based on Arduino has been developed for biomedical research applications [1]. This can be programmed for different parameters such as frequency and duty cycle. Further, the LCD and matrix keypad interface allow users to operate the generator with great ease. The waveform generator is capable of producing ELF in the range 1Hz–100Hz of varying duty cycle from 1% to 99%. The coil driver circuit has been designed to produce current in the range of 0.2A to 1A and is used to drive the Helmholtz coil. Finally, the field generated by Helmholtz coil has been tested by the LUTRON EMF Tester-828 and has been shown to produce a spatially uniform magnetic field. It has further been observed that with increase in input frequency (30– 100Hz), the load current decreases which in turn reduce the magnetic flux density B from 0.567mT to 0.2 mT. |
