Popis:	Bulky anthracenyl esters could be efficiently synthesized from 2-benzylbenzoic acids via a novel three-step tandem reaction containing intramolecular Friedel–Crafts acylation, enolization, and esterification. A mechanism for the tandem reaction is proposed.
