Popis: The paper introduces a solution for integrated electric propulsion systems in the 2000 m 3 self-propelled suction dredger. The integrated electric propulsion system functions are described in detail. It also discusses several key problems involved in integrated electric propulsion system design, including varying frequency driving plan, harmonic wave estimation, power management system design, propulsion and dredging monitoring and control system design. By using the integrated electric propulsion system in the dredger, it realizes various functions including the unified power supply, power management, variable frequency drive and comprehensive monitoring and control. It has greatly increased overall effects and high automation of the dredger. Meanwhile it is also saves energy by adopting integrated electric propulsion solution. This will be a new direction for green-energy equipped ships in domestic rivers. Keyword: Dredger; Electric propulsion; Variable frequency drive; Power management 1. OVERVIEW The 2000 m 3 self-propelled suction Dredger (hereinafter referred to as Dredger) is owned by Chang Jiang Waterway Bureau of Ministry of Transportation. The dredger would mainly be used in Yangtze River waterway for emergency maintaince tasks that need high mobility. The main propulsion system usually works in low-speed towing state during the Dredger’s mission. So the electric propulsion is used.
