Popis: Despite the availability of medical therapy for erectile dysfunction, penile prosthesis surgery remains a valuable treatment modality, with increasing utilization. The acquisition of surgical skills for penile implant procedures and prosthetic urology for residents is mandatory to manage this growing population. However, there are noted challenges, and resident education and penile prosthesis placement is not universally taught in urology training programs. In this manuscript, resident education for penile prosthesis surgery is analyzed, with attention to what currently exists, what the future challenges may entail, and what the future holds for teaching residents how to perform the variety of operations. There have been varied approaches to teaching residents penile prosthetic surgery at all levels alls of training to learn new skills and complex surgical procedures. The variety and complexity of surgical procedures have evolved in the past several years, but the approach to surgical education remains fragmented. New methods of surgical teaching are on the horizon, and the current and future approaches hold significant promise. The practice of penile prosthesis surgery involves several surgical procedures that require specific technical skills. The past 40 years have produced a vast body of work, much of it successful, but new approaches will be needed to push surgical education forward.
