Imagery rescripting is a therapeutic technique whose goal is to change negative self-schema, by changing past painful autobiographic memories to be more positive. The classic procedure consists of three stages: activation, rescripting, and reconsolidation. The instructions in the second stage are relatively open. The request to identify and fulfill the young self's needs leads to different paths to fulfill various needs. One source of variability in the process is the strategy type that patients use in order to fulfill the young self's needs. Each strategy can be implemented using different tactics. This study aims to implement a theoretical framework to map the strategy types used in imagery rescripting intervention. Strategies and tactics then will be examined to determine their relation to outcome measures. |
