High-pressure Raman spectra of LnP5O14 crystals

Popis: The high-pressure Raman spectra of CeP 5 O 14 and PrP 5 O 14 crystals were studied, and the values of 1 v dv dp for some vibrational modes determined. The assignment of these modes is discussed. A probable structural phase transition induced by pressure was found near 75 kbar for PrP 5 O 14 . The high-pressure Raman spectra of the soft optic modes of all eight crystals of LnP 5 O 14 (Ln = La ~ Tb) were recorded in the pressure range of 0–20 kbar. The results show that the soft optic modes of LnP 5 O 14 have strong anharmonicities, which decrease with the pressure and the atomic number of Ln.
