Chapter Three shows how poets Ricardo Alberto Pérez and Ramón Hondal collaborate with artists to communicate with a wider, archipelagic public. Pérez’s ¿Para qué el cine? [For What Purpose Cinema?] (2010) is a collaborative venture with artist Ezequiel Suárez that offers readers two texts within one, with underlined words in each poem offering a second possible reading. Hondal’s Scratch (2018), additionally, signals the importance of music in forging transnational, archipelagic ties, while his collaboration with artist Léster Álvarez highlights the myriad ways in which books do (and do not) circulate throughout the arcubiélago. Mixing media in these ways, Pérez and Hondal demonstrate the ongoing need for a transnational, archipelagic space. The chapter also includes a discussion of Hondal’s Diálogos [Dialogues] (2014) and Pérez’s “Recital porcino” [Porcine Recital] (2010). |
