Popis: Obesity is characterized by excessive accumulation of fats in the adipose tissues. Accumulation of excess fat releases a large number of adipokines that can cause obesity and diabetes mellitus due to irregularity between demand and the production of insulin. Obesity affects many organs and influences the heart, liver, intestines, respiratory organs, endocrine, and reproductive functions. Polydipsia, polyuria, weight reduction, coronary illness, kidney injury, diabetic foot, and diabetic ketoacidosis are pathophysiological manifestations and complications of diabetes. Obesity and overweight also contribute to the immune system dysfunction due to increased secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines which are also risk factors for many types of cancer.
