Popis: | Intestinal transplantation has emerged as a lifesaving therapeutic option for patients with irreversible intestinal failure. Although intestinal transplants remain the least frequent of all transplants, one year graft survival rates have significantly improved and now approach those of other extrarenal transplants. Management of patients with intestinal failure is complex and a multidisciplinary approach is mandatory to manage these patients in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative settings. We herein summarize the current indications, types of allografts, outcomes and complications of intestinal/multivisceral transplantation. |
