Popis: About two-thirds of the original crude oil is so tightly held in reservoir rock that it cannot be economically displaced by known methods. This is expected to be an important new source of energy when price incentives stimulate large-scale testing of newer oil recovery methods, so that further developments and improvements can evolve as a result of field experience. Various thermal and “chemical flooding” processes seem to be the leading candidates among a moderately large number from which to draw.
