Popis: The regular occurrence of generalized edema associated with menstruation has been reported by Thomas (1), Sweeney (2), Molnar and Gruber (3) Atkinson and Ivy (4). An increase in body weight and a swelling of the abdomen, hands and feet were noted by Eufinger and Spiegler (5), Okey and Stewart (6), and Sweeney (2), in approximately one-third of normal women at or about the time of menstruation. In most instances a rapid reduction in weight occurred during menstruation. Evidence of a disturbance in water metabolism at the time of menstruation was described by Heilig (7), and Peterson and Milles (8). Heilig (7) observed a delayed excretion of water at the time of menstruation as compared to the intermenstrual period. Peterson and Milles (8), using the –blister technic— noted an alteration in the permeability of the capillaries of the skin normal women during menstruation.
