| Popis: | Two corneas with macular dystrophy are studied. After a brief light microscopical report, an extensive study of the ultrastructural alterations is given. Alterations were found in the basal epithelial cells, in Bowman’s membrane, and especially in the stroma. The stromal lesions concerned the keratocytes, but also the stromal collagen. There were also alterations of Descemet’s membrane and the endothelium. The possible etiology of the disease is discussed. |
