Popis: | The model developed in the preceding paper for the vibrational spectrum of ice Ih in the OH stretching region is extended to the description of the spectrum of amorphous solid water. The effects of structural disorder on the spectrum are explicitly considered using a random network model for the structure of the amorphous solid. The differences between the vibrational spectrum of ice Ih and that of the amorphous solid are found to arise from the larger variation in oxygen–oxygen bond distances in the amorphous solid. The departure of the random network from the regular crystalline connectivity of the ice Ih lattice appears to have little effect on the spectrum. |
