Popis: Two pastured horses were treated with Durmectrin plastic strips on Jun 19 by attaching 1 ca 6 cm strip to each side of the test animals’ halters. On 11, a similar group of 3 horses was treated with Ectiban pour-on insecticide. The material was applied liberally to the entire body of each animal via a large sponge. Proximate herds of untreated horses served as controls during the course of this test. Flies were counted weekly via visual inspection of all treated and untreated animals. Counts were made on the entire face, a single side, and 4 legs of each animal examined. In general, face and house flies were confined to the face, horn flies to the side, and stable fies to the legs of these horses; however, we could not reliably distinguish species in this field situation.
