Popis: | We performed X-ray laser gain measurements for various wavelengths by changing lasant materials in the pulse-train laser pumped compact X-ray laser scheme. Wavelengths of laser lines have been extended utilizing the 3d–5f transition of Li-like Mg, Al and Si ions, whose wavelengths are 12.8 nm, 10.57 nm and 8.88 nm, respectively. Each gain coefficient was 2.8, 2.0 and 1.1 cm−1, respectively. Two dimensional distributions of gain were obtained for Mg and Al plasmas viewed from each axis of the plasma column. The spatial extent of the gain region along the target normal direction was 0.4–1 or 0.2–0.5 mm from the target surface, respectively. The gain region vertical to the target normal extended 0.3–0.4 mm from the central axis of expanding plasma. It was found that there was a shallow dip structure in gain distribution along the central axis of expanding plasma. |
